Driver enabled but not started xp

 · The sound system works normally from Ubuntu. Non-PnP drivers can be started or stopped from Device Mgr. However, I can find no way to start the PnP audio driver. Any help would be greatly appreciated. My system is P4, Gh, Mb RD ram running WinXP Home. All updates are current.
